The bikes in the hands of Chaz and Davide are the top racing versions of the Panigale R, the road-going Ducati superbike presented to the public at Eicma in 2014. World Superbike regulations stipulate that the racing bikes are increasingly similar to the production model, in line with the spirit that has characterized this championship since the start and which Ducati has always interpreted in the best possible way, using the track and the races to test and improve its products which are then made available to Ducati streetbike riders.
Coming off the back of 5 race wins and 21 podiums last season, the Panigale R has been further improved to add to all those wins that the Ducati Superbikes have incorporated in their DNA.
The Panigale R in road-going configuration is able to produce 205 HP with a dry weight of just 162 kg, just to mention a few numbers. The equipment chosen by Ducati has one eye on the racing sector: titanium con-rods and valves, dual segment pistons, crankshaft balanced with tungsten pads and racing-derived clutch.
These details are added to all the other components thanks to which the Panigale R is capable of matching high performance with lengthy maintenance intervals, in view of the norms that limit the number of race engines reserved for production-based bikes.
Created with the precise aim of dominating on the track, Ducati's flagship machine is ready to show its mettle on circuits throughout the world, both in the hands of passionate Ducatisti and the factory riders taking part in the Superbike World Championship.
